SUMMARY OF CRASH:

On July 21, 2016 at approximately 1930 hours troopers from the Vermont State Police Rutland Barracks responded to a single motor vehicle crash on Finel Hollow Road in Poultney, Vermont. The Poultney Fire Department assisted on scene. Troopers located a single vehicle down an embankment and identified the operator as Samantha Burlett

Investigation revealed Burlett was operating south on Finel Hollow Road in the Town of Poultney and swerved to avoid oncoming traffic, causing her vehicle to travel off the right side of the roadway, strike a tree, and then continue down the embankment. The vehicle is estimated as being a total loss.  Burlett was wearing her seatbelt, was not injured, and denied medical treatment.  The cause of this crash was the operator was left of center, and when correcting to avoid contact with oncoming traffic, lost control of the vehicle.  It was further determined during the investigation Burlett was under civil suspension.

COURT ACTION: None; Vermont Civil Violation Complaints Issued.
