SUMMARY OF CRASH:

On July 17, 2016 at approximately 0404 hours troopers from the Vermont State Police Rutland Barracks responded to a motor vehicle crash on VT Route 22a in the Town of Benson. The Benson Fire Department and Fair Haven Rescue Squad also responded. Troopers located a single vehicle off the roadway and identified the operator as Charles W. Harper.

Investigation revealed that Harper was operating south on VT Route 22a in the Town of Benson when his vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway, striking a farm fence and coming to rest in a field. The vehicle sustained moderate front end and undercarriage damage. Harper was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured. It appears that operator fatigue may have been a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Trooper Zachary Freire at the Rutland Barracks.
