SUMMARY OF CRASH: On 07/21/16 at approximately 2231 hours, Vermont State Police
were dispatched to the area of 2681 VT RT 346, Pownal, for a single vehicle
crash. It was unknown at the time what, if any injuries were involved. Upon
arrival, rescue personnel and responding Troopers found the vehicle, a 2001
Honda CRV, on it's roof, laying in the west bound lane of VT RT 346.

2 occupants were on scene and were being treated by rescue personnel. As those 2
were being treated, a third occupant came to the scene and reported he had been
driving. This male was identified as Nicholas Baker. Baker had suffered severe
roadrash to the majority of his upper torso. While speaking to Baker, Troopers
suspected him to be under the influence of intoxicants. Baker provided a
Preliminary Breath Test of .152%. The legal limit for BAC in Vermont is .08%.
Due to Baker's condition at the time of processing, a sample of his blood was
requested. Those blood results are pending as is a court date/action for Baker.

Aside from alcohol being a suspected factor in this crash, high rates of speed
are also suspected to have played a role in this crash. The crash is still under
investigation.
