SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On June 19, 2016 at approximately 2041 hours Vermont State Troopers responded to

a crash involving an ATV on Pond Road in the town of Fairfield.  Upon arrival

multiple vehicles were parked in the roadway and involved parties were standing

near an ATV that was stuck in a ditch.  A male (Brenden Saunders, Age 26) that

was involved in this incident was walking down the middle of Pond Road, causing

a temporary closure of the roadway.  The male was belligerent and appeared

highly agitated.  This male was causing a significant distraction to Troopers on

scene trying to investigate the incident.  The male refused to comply with

Trooper’s commands to get out of the roadway.

Based on the above, Troopers took this male into custody in order to affect a

disorderly conduct arrest, to gain control of a belligerent and hostile male in

the middle of a public highway, and to ensure the safety of the uninvolved

parties on the roadway.
