UPDATE - MANNER OF DEATH
On 03/28/16, at approximately 2032 hours, Vermont State Police Troopers from Derby responded to a 911 report of an unresponsive male subject in a residence on Evansville road in the town of Brownington. Troopers and Orleans Rescue arrived and found Kevin Smith, 38 of Brownington, deceased of unknown causes. At this time, a death investigation is underway and the deceased will be brought to the Office of the Chief Medical examiner for an autopsy to determine cause and manner of death.
On 03/30/16, the autopsy on Kevin Smith was completed and it was found that Smith died of an incised injury to the chest. The manner of death is pending. The investigation is continuing and no further information is being released at this time.
On 06/20/16 the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) located in Burlington VT updated the findings in regard to Kevin Smith’s death. The OCME has ruled the manner of Smith’s death as, Homicide. The cause of death being, stab wound of chest.
The Vermont State Police continue to investigate Smith’s death and ask anyone with any information to contact the Vermont State Police.
