AGE: 58
CITY, STATE OF RESIDENCE: 505 Barclay Road, Barre Town, VT

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: At 11:59 PM on June 24, 2016 the Barre Town Fire and Police Departments responded to a 911 call of a house fire at 505 Barclay Road.  Upon arrival of the fire department the house was engulfed in flames and it appeared there was nobody home.  Wayne Zura, age 61, was not home at the time of the fire, but returned to the house at approximately 3:30 AM to find the fire department still dealing with the fire.  He advised he believed his wife, Kathleen Zura, age 58, was still inside the home.  Fire investigators from the Vermont State Police and Division of Fire Safety were summoned to the scene to determine the origin and cause of the fire.  Due to the structural integrity of the home being severely compromised by the blaze, it was unsafe for the fire investigators to enter it.  An excavator was brought in to remove some of the hazardous debris to render it safe.  After an initial search into the rubble did not find her, a Vermont State Police cadaver dog was summoned to the scene. Kathleen Zura was located inside the home at 12:00 PM on June 25, 2016 and her body was taken to the medical examiner's office in Burlington for examination.  The origin and cause of the fire are still under investigation.  Anyone with any information regarding this fire is asked to call Detective Sergeant Todd Ambroz of the Vermont State Police at the Williston Barracks at 878-7111.
