SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at approximately 1731 the Vermont State Police responded to a disturbance behind Uncle Bill’s Store in the Town of Eden.   Initial reports indicated that a male, later identified as Lonny Wells (DOB: 07/19/1961) of Eden, was assaulting individuals behind Uncle Bill's Store in the Town of Eden.    At the time there was a large group of individuals gathered behind the store for a Tuesday evening horseshoe tournament.   Wells, who lives adjacent to the store, became involved in a confrontation with several of these individuals leading up to the assault.   Updates from the scene indicated that the situation was escalating as Wells began driving his vehicle in a reckless manner within close proximity to the group gathered behind the store.  Additional updates indicated that Wells had obtained a firearm and was threatening people gathered behind the store.

The Vermont State Police, Lamoille County Sheriff's Department and Vermont Fish and Wildlife responded to the scene.

Police arrived on scene and located Wells near his residence.  Based on the investigation conducted at the scene, Wells was taken into custody for aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment, and aggravated disorderly conduct. Wells was transported to the Williston State Police Barracks for processing.

Wells was later lodged at the Chittenden County Correctional Center.   This incident remains under investigation.
