SUMMARY OF CRASH:
On June 23, 2016, at approximately 1900 hours, members of the Vermont State Police were notified of a single motor vehicle crash, which took place on Vermont Route 3, Proctor, Vermont. The complainant advised a single male operator exited the vehicle following the crash, and ran southbound into the woods. Investigation revealed as the operator was traveling southbound on Vermont Route 3, the vehicle veered to the right shoulder, due to an undetermined reason, and continued off of the roadway. The vehicle then contacted a berm causing damage. Members of the Proctor Volunteer Fire Department responded to assist with the incident.
Due to the attentiveness of the complainant, a description of the male operator was issued to area law enforcement. With assistance from members of the Rutland City and Pittsford Police Departments, the male was located and identified as Michael Lesperance. Lesperance was issued a citation to appear before the Vermont Superior Court, Criminal Division on August 01, 2016, at 0830 hours to answer to the charge of Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
