SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On June 30, 2016 at approximately 1706 hours Vermont State Police Dispatch received a report of a light colored truck that had utilized an interstate u-turn and in the process of doing so, forced several vehicles off of the roadway at interstate travel speeds. The vehicle was reportedly last seen headed northbound on the interstate towards exit 20.

Troopers and St. Albans City officers responding to the area located a vehicle matching the description given and conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 207 in St. Albans, just off the exit 20 north offramp. The operator of the vehicle was identified as Richard Sourdiff (age 45) of Burlington, VT.

Investigation determined that Sourdiff utilized the interstate u-turn during commuting hours, causing vehicles to leave the roadway. No injuries were sustained by any parties involved.

Sourdiff was arrested at the scene and transported to the St. Albans State Police Barracks for processing. At the conclusion of processing Sourdiff was cited to appear before the Franklin County Superior Court on August 1st, 2016 to answer the charges of Careless and Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
