SUMMARY OF CRASH:

 

On 6/20/16 at 15:19 Vermont State Police and Springfield Fire responded to a one vehicle crash on I91, mile marker 39N, in Springfield. Jerry Schleis was traveling north in his 2008 Chev pick-up truck with a bed camper. The vehicle drifted into the median and became airborne after driving up the u-turn embankment. The vehicle was in the air for approximately 130 feet before it landed north of the u-turn. The camper separated from the truck and the truck continued north in the median where it struck trees and came to a stop. The operator suffered a head laceration and was transported to the Springfield Hospital. The operator reported that he possibly fell asleep. He was issued a ticket for driving off the roadway. It took several hours to clean up the scene.
