STATION: VSP St Albans
LOCATION: Troy Street, Richford
VIOLATION: THC Extraction/ BHO Lab
SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:
On April 28, 2016 the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department arrested Phillip Walker-Brazie, 28 years old, for Felony Possession of Marijuana, greater than a pound. Evidence seized during the arrest led to the Vermont State Police Clandestine Lab Team executing a warrant on 05/12/16 at the Walker-Brazie’s residence in Richford. Evidence recovered by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department and Vermont State Police indicate that there had been a THC extraction / Butane Honey Oil (BHO) lab at the residence, as all the components to a lab had been seized.
A THC extraction / BHO lab is an illegal procedure that can be successfully completed domestically using some simple house hold products. In the production process multiple cans of Butane will be “blasted” through Marijuana in order to extract the THC from marijuana. Butane is an extremely flammable liquid and a major cause of explosions associated with THC extraction / BHO laboratories during the manufacturing process of THC oil or “BHO”. With butane being heavier than air, the vapors emanating from the liquid butane will tend to pool. Any ignition source such as a spark from a light switch turning on could cause an explosion.
