SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:
On 05/10/2016 at approximately 1500 hours, an elderly resident from Newfane received a telephone call from a female posing to be from Medicare. The caller reported that they had personal information about the resident and they were calling to offer her a free gift. The person who received the call immediately became suspicious and ended the call. The number involved in this incident was 888-528-7801. Based on an investigation and calls to the number revealed that this is likely a fraud and an attempt to gather personal information from the elderly or unsuspecting people.
