Press Release/ Vermont State Police (Rutland)/ DUI #4 in Clarendon (16C102327)

LOCATION: Gorge Road in the Town of Clarendon

VIOLATION: DUI #4, Operating with a Criminally Suspended License


ACCUSED: Michael Burke                                      

AGE: 41

CITY, STATE OF RESIDENCE: Clarendon, Vermont



On the above date and time, Troopers from the Vermont State Police Rutland Barracks were dispatched to a single vehicle crash on Gorge Road in the Town of Clarendon.  Through investigation, Troopers learned Burke was traveling east on Gorge Road in a 1998 Dodge Ram truck when he failed to maintain his lane of travel and went off the south side of the roadway.  After leaving the roadway the truck rolled and came to a position of uncontrolled rest on its passenger side, leaning against a tree.  Burke was not seriously injured as a result of the crash and was transported to Rutland Regional Medical Center for treatment to his non-life threatening injuries. 


While speaking with Burke, Troopers observed indicators of impairment and learned his privilege to operate a motor vehicle was criminally suspended for life in the State of Vermont.  After Burke was released from the hospital, he was transported to the State Police Barracks in Rutland where he was processed for DUI #4 and operating with a criminally suspended license. After processing, Burke was issued a citation to appear in Rutland Superior Court - Criminal Division to answer to the charges of DUI #4 and operating with a criminally suspended license.
