SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

 

On May 29, 2016, at approximately 2000 hours, members of the Vermont State Police were notified of a single motor vehicle crash, which took place on Stage Road, Benson, Vermont. When Troopers arrived on scene, they were advised by witnesses the male operator had left the scene on foot, traveling in the direction of Vermont Route 22A. The operator, Paul Breen, was located shortly after at a residence located on Vermont Route 22A in Orwell, Vermont. Breen advised he was traveling south on Stage Road, in Benson, VT , when he veered to the right. Breen’s vehicle traveled off the roadway, and struck a tree. While speaking to Breen, he displayed signs of impairment and was screened for DUI. At approximately 2115 hours, Breen provided a preliminary sample of his breath which yielded a 0.187% BrAC. Breen was subsequently taken into custody, transported to the State Police Barracks in Rutland, where he was processed for DUI. He later released on a citation to appear at Vermont Superior Court, Criminal Division to answer to the charge of Driving under the influence (DUI).
