DESCRIPTION OF VEHICLE: 2008 Ford Escape
DAMAGE TO VEHICLE: Totaled.
Brown suffered lacerations to shoulder, neck, and chest from the seatbelt, and pain in her left knee.
HOSPITAL: Transported to Rutland Regional Medical Center for further evaluation
ROAD COND: Dry, Blacktop
SUMMARY OF CRASH:
On the above date and time, members of the Wallingford Volunteer Fire Department, Danby/Mt. Tabor Volunteer Fire Department, Regional Ambulance Service, and the Vermont State Police responded to Route 7 South in Wallingford for a report of a single vehicle crash into a telephone pole with entrapment and unknown injury.
Upon arriving on scene, the vehicle was found with the operator inside, and a telephone pole which had been seared in half, resting on top of the vehicle. Wallingford Fire extricated the operator with the assistance of the Danby/Mt. Tabor Fire Department and Regional Ambulance Service. The operator was transported to Rutland Regional Medical Center for precautionary measures as there were complaints of minor injuries.
The crash was caused due to the vehicle leaving the lane of traffic. A contributing factor to the crash was determined to be that the operator of the vehicle was fatigued. The operator of the vehicle, was identified as Marylee Brown, age 55, of Hardwick, Vermont. Lack of serious injury was partially attributed to proper seat belt use and air bag deployment.
