SUMMARY OF CRASH:
On April 30, 2016, at approximately 1607 hours, Vermont State Police were
dispatched to a motor vehicle crash with injuries on the southbound lane of
Interstate 89 near Mile Marker 110 in Georgia, Vermont.
Vermont State Police, the Georgia Fire Department, the St. Albans Fire
Department, and AM Care rescue personnel responded to the scene. Upon arrival,
responders observed a 2004 Honda CRV, operated by Edward Borrazzo, age 50, of
South Burlington, Vermont, in the median, engulfed in flames. The fire spread to
the surrounding vegetation in the median, but was successfully combated and put
out. The vehicle sustained significant damage and was totaled.
Preliminary investigation indicates that Borrazzo's vehicle was traveling
southbound on Interstate 89 when it drove off of the roadway and into the
median. Borrazzo was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Northwestern
Medical Center where he was treated for his injuries.
Alcohol does not appear to be a contributing factor of this crash. This motor
vehicle crash remains under investigation.
