SUMMARY OF CRASH:
On April 30, 2016, at approximately 1355 hours, Vermont State Police were
dispatched to a motor vehicle crash with injuries on Frontage Road in Highgate,
Vermont State Police, Highgate Volunteer Fire Department, and Missisquoi Rescue
personnel responded to the scene. Upon arrival, responders observed a United
States Postal Service Truck, operated by Laurie Duffy, age 51, of Isle La Motte,
overturned on its passenger's side. The truck was in a residential driveway, off
of Frontage Road. The truck sustained damage to the rear driver's side tire,
windshield, and passenger's side door. There was a 2008 Dodge Caravan, operated
by Amy Corey, age 47, of Swanton, Vermont, approximately 10 feet behind the
truck in the opposite lane of travel. The Caravan sustained damage to the
windshield and passenger's side front end.
Preliminary investigation indicates that Corey's vehicle was traveling South on
Frontage Road when it rear ended the U.S. Postal Service Truck, causing the
truck to overturn on its side. Rescue personnel extracted Duffy from the truck.
Minor injuries were present on scene and no one was transported to Northwestern
Alcohol does not appear to be a contributing factor of this crash. This motor
vehicle crash remains under investigation.
